Love is in the air
Valentine's Day is a special time of year for couples, and it's also the perfect time for stock photographers to capture some of their most romantic moments. From couples celebrating their love in the snow to heart-shaped balloons floating in the sky, there are plenty of trends that stock photographers should look out for when it comes to capturing Valentine's Day photos.
Capture scenes of loving couples in cafes, restaurants, or in their homes. The market is quite saturated with the usual V-day cliches, so make sure to approach everything with authenticity. Showcase couples engaging in acts of everyday love, such as having morning coffee, running errands, and preparing meals together.
Don't forget about puppy love either. Capture teen couples attending prom together, going out on dates, holding hands at school, and taking selfies.
Be Bold
From vibrant colors to abstract shapes, these bold illustrations can help tell a story and evoke emotion in the viewer. Make vectors and illustrations that showcase the increasingly popular bold-minimalism trend. The trend usually plays with large shapes that are set against plain or simple backgrounds. Color palettes that show a clear distinction between light and dark, and saturated to muted.
At the Office
Candid office scenes are a great way to capture the everyday life of a business or organization in a unique and creative way. Office scenes can be used for all kinds of purposes, from advertising campaigns to editorial pieces. They can also be used to show the culture and values of an organization, as well as the hard work and dedication that goes into running it. With this type of photography, photographers have the opportunity to capture real-life moments that will truly stand out from traditional stock photos.
STEM Scenes
Shoot real and honest photos and footage of co-workers collaborating. Try and avoid cliched gestures like high fives after a meeting, and clapping after a presentation. Instead, find fresh ways to depict people working in teams or alone.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is an emerging trend in stock photography. As the world becomes increasingly digital, the demand for images that capture the essence of STEM-related topics is growing.
Capture university students solving math equations on digital tablets and chalkboards alike. Shoot some footage at science fairs, and don't leave the little ones out—children being interested in or engaging in STEM-related activities is sure to sell well.
