Wirestock at DMLA conference

Published on November 19, 2019

Recently, Wirestock took part in DMLA (Digital Media Licensing Association) conference to learn about new and demanded content on different stock photo agencies.

In this article, I am going to showcase the key factors we learned to help you more successfully sell your content.

Images that don't sell

Staged and aspiration content. Images that depict fake happiness and success with professional models.

Images that sell

  • Real people, real bodies, real situations (experiential and Instagram-like content)

  • Images with real people and model releases sell the best.

Here are the most popular topics and themes as of today that you should involve your workaround:

  • #metoo movement

  • People with disabilities

  • Female leadership

  • Female politicians

  • Diverse professionals

  • Diverse workplace

  • Diverse seniors

  • Diversity in the workplace

  • Diverse group meetings

  • Female doctor

  • Female empowerment

  • Equal opportunity

  • Disabled accessibility

  • Indigenous people

  • Girl boss

  • Working parent

Searches for "REAL BODIES" have grown by almost 150% over the past 18 months.

Sales for "REAL PEOPLE" have grown by 300% in the past 5 years.

We also learned that including the location in your photos is a huge advantage.

Potential buyers will be looking for specific exact locations to buy, so make sure to always include a location of the shoot to majorly increase your chances of selling.

Buyers are looking for images in the following regions and countries:

  • Japan

  • Korea

  • Hong Kong

Latin America

  • Brazil

  • Mexico

  • Argentina

  • Sydney

  • Canberra

  • Melbourne

We hope this will help you boost your sales and get better earnings in the future!

Best of luck Wirestockers!

Kind regards:
